Development of SMEs and Entrepreneurship in SE Europe
Agency for promotion of entrepreneurship of the Republic of Macedonia - APERM, in October 2002, has sighed Agreement with SBDC (Small business development center from Ljubljana – Slovenia) for realization of the project “Development of SMEs and Entrepreneurship In SE Europe”. Project is supported by Stability Pact of SE Europe, CEI, Ministry of Economy of Republic of Macedonia and originally consist from three subprojects:

Business co-operation network – BCN includes the International Partner Search Database on Supply and Demand for any kind of business-to-business co-operation. The database works in partner countries of SE Europe. Entries are provided either by the partner organizations or “on-line” by entrepreneurs themselves.
Basic goal of this Database is to provide as much as possible matchmakings of supplies / demands among companies from the region. Entered companies can be reach at web site: www.borza.org .
By April 2005, the partners have submitted over 2000 entries and over 3000 matchmakings between supplies and demands were accomplished.
Part of subproject BCN is organization of Trade Missions, both in Slovenia and all partner countries. Therefore such Trade missions have been organized first time in September 2002, at the International Trade Fair in Celje. At this event more than 100 entrepreneurs had multilateral meetings. Six companies from Macedonia realized over 50 business meetings. Since than every year number of participants is increasing. September 2004 more than 250 companies (14 from Macedonia) from 10 countries participated at this event.
November 21st 2003 in Skopje were organized B2B meetings, where 42 companies from Slovenia and 130 companies from Macedonia realized over 400 business meetings. Entrepreneurs from both sides evaluated these meetings with highest marks and at their request such meetings, once again, will be organized in June 2005.
Each of partners in this project established business centers so-called BCN. BCN – Skopje is established as separate unit in the framework of organizational structure of APERM. Basic goal of BCN – Skopje is to contribute for increasing of bilateral and multilateral economic co-operation between entrepreneurs from the region (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Monte Negro with Kosovo).
BCN – Skopje objective is to restore the broken business links and to establish a new one with the entrepreneurs from the region, which will contribute to economic and social progress in the country.
Priority of BCN – Skopje is to provide basic data of national economy, to build the database in order to increase the opportunities for co-operation between entrepreneurs from the region.

Entrepreneurial training matches the needs of the SME support network. In the framework of this subproject, according to the programme, four international groups of participants, 150 in total, including the members of national governments, regional and local authorities and staff from SME promotion agencies, have accomplished the five modules initial entrepreneurship training. Three modules took place in beneficiary countries, the forth one in Slovenia, and the fifth one was delivered in Austria and Italy. In 2002, training programme was implemented in one block, and the “Summer School” concluded in November 2002.
Entrepreneurial training has been continued, and in the period 2002 - 2005, more than 10 seminars and trainings, with respectable lecturer from Slovenia, has been realized. By now more than 200 entrepreneurs from Macedonia participated at these seminars.
